These days, many people like to have more than one screen on their computer. A second screen can significantly boost your productivity.

Setting up a second screen is quite easy in Windows 10. As you likely know, Windows supports second or multi-monitor setup since the days of Windows 7. The support has only got better with Windows 10 as we can now easily connect Windows 10 to a wireless display and do much more without installing any third-party application.

At times, when you don’t have an external monitor, you might want to use your spare Windows 10 laptop as a second screen or external monitor. In other words, you might want to project from one Windows 10 laptop to another laptop for some reasons.

Luckily, you can use a laptop running Windows 10 as a second screen with ease. Setting up the laptop to use as a second screen is also very straight-forward.

Complete the given below directions to use a Windows 10 laptop as the second monitor.

Use Windows 10 laptop as a second display

Step 1: On the Windows 10 laptop which you want to use as an external monitor or which you want to use for projection, navigate to Settings > System > Projecting to this PC.

Step 3: In the Ask to project to this PC drop-down box, select Every time a connection is required. Next, select Require PIN for pairing drop-down box, select the First Time or Always for better security.

Finally, turn off the This PC can be discovered for projection only if it’s plugged into a power source option if the laptop is not plugged into a power outlet.

Your Windows 10 laptop is now ready for projection.

Step 4: Now, make sure that your laptop that you would like to use the second monitor and the PC that from where you would like to project are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Step 5: On the Windows PC from where you want to project, navigate to Settings > System > Display. In the Multiple displays section, Connect to a wireless display link to start searching for a wireless display.

Step 7: On the laptop to which you are projecting, you will get a prompt. Click on the OK button. If you have configured it to require a PIN, you will need to type the PIN shown to continue.

To enable the input on the second screen (via laptop keyboard and trackpad), select Allow mouse, keyboard, touch, and pen input from this device option. If the Connect pane is not showing up, click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar, and then click Connect.

A small bar at the top center of the screen will appear during the projection. Click the settings/gear icon to choose between Gaming, Working, and Watching video modes.
