MTN Rwanda has opened a mobile-to-mobile remittance service between Rwanda and Tanzania. This is to enable MTN Mobile Money users in Rwanda easily send money to Airtel Tanzania subscribers through the MFS Africa Hub – a connection of mobile money operations across a number of markets in the sub-Saharan Africa region.
The hub ensures convenient and affordable mobile-to-mobile international money transfers, as well as allow customers to transfer cash more simply and at a lower cost than the traditional methods.
How to send money from MTN Rwanda to Airtel Tanzania
- To send money to Airtel Tanzania, Dial *830# from your handset and follow the prompts, where you will also view the equivalent amount to send based on prevailing foreign exchange rates.
- You will then be prompted to approve the transaction with your MoMo PIN.
- Upon sending you will receive a confirmation message that the transaction has gone through.
A few seconds after, the receiver is notified on his phone that he has received a money transfer, indicating the amount that has been transferred in Tanzanian shillings (TZS) as well as the sender name.
