Typically Google search (or any other search engine for that matter) is used to search the entire world wide web for required information. However, at times, you might want to search a single website to get the required information.

While a large percentage of websites include a dedicated Google search box to quickly search them, not all websites include this feature.

Take, for example, you want to quickly search the entire IntoWindows website for articles on Windows 9 operating system. Sine we don’t have a dedicated Google search button on our website, you might want to know how to search the contents of IntoWindows using Google search.

Searching a particular website without opening the website in your web browser is very much possible with the help of Google search. In other words, you can search a website right from the homepage of Google without installing any extension or using any other web service.

Here is how you can quickly search a website using Google.

Method 1 of 2

Note that this method works good on Microsoft’s Bing search as well.

Step 1: Open Google search’s homepage in any web browser.

Step 2: Type site:websiteURL keyword followed by the enter key to search the website you would like to search using Google .

For example, you can type site:intowindows.com windows 7 to search IntoWindows on articles about Windows 7. That’s it!

Method 2 of 2

If you’re using Chrome browser, you can install a free extension titled Search the current site. Search the current site extension not only enables you search the webpage you’re viewing but also the entire website using Google search. If you find the instructions in the method 1 is tedious or find it difficult to remember, you can try out this extension.
