Pair AirPods and AirPods Pro to Android Device

First, you want the device you are trying to connect to your Apple AirPods to have Bluetooth enabled. 

Then, you want to put your Apple AirPods into Bluetooth pairing mode.

Once both devices are in Bluetooth pairing mode, you need to select the headphones or earbuds from the Bluetooth menu on the Android device to connect the AirPods to your device.

How to Put an Android Phone into Pairing Mode

First, you want to put your Android device or phone into pairing mode. 

Here are instructions on how to do that with the most common version of the Android operating system.

  • Go to the Settings app on your Android
  • Select Bluetooth
  • Click the toggle to turn the Bluetooth on

Once your Android device is in Bluetooth pairing mode, it is time to put your headphones or earbuds into Bluetooth pairing mode.

How to Put AirPods or AirPods Pro into Bluetooth Pairing Mode

The first thing you want to do when trying to put your AirPods or AirPods Pro into Bluetooth pairing mode is to ensure the case and earbuds have been charged for at least 2 hours.

  • Charge your AirPods or AirPods Pro case for at least 2 hours with the AirPod earbuds securely located inside the case while it is charging
  • Open the lid of the AirPod charging case with the AirPods in
  • Press and hold the white button on the back of the case for about 5 seconds
  • The LED on the front of the case should turn white once you press the button
  • Once the LED on the front of the case blinks white, your AirPods are in Bluetooth Pairing Mode.

How to Put AirPods Max into Bluetooth Pairing Mode

There are two buttons on the ear cup of the AirPods Max; one is the Digital Crown knob/button that is used to cycle around the headphones’ options. 

The other is the Noise Control Button.

  • Ensure your AirPods Max headphones are charged
  • Press and hold the Noise Control Button on the top of the ear cup of your AirPods Max
  • Hold button for 5 seconds or until the pairing LED begins to flash white
  • Once the AirPods Max LED is flashing white, your headphones are in pairing mode

Once the white LED flashes on your AirPods Max, you can continue to the next section on connecting to your Android device.

Connect AirPods, AirPods Pro, or AirPods Max to your Android Device

Now that your Android device and your AirPods are in Bluetooth pairing mode, you can connect them and start using them.

  • Go to the Settings App on your Android Device
  • Go to Bluetooth
  • Select your AirPods by name from the menu of available Bluetooth devices
  • Your device should now connect to your headphones

You can follow these instructions to connect Apple AirPods, AirPods Pro, or AirPods Max to any device that allows audio via Bluetooth. You will just need to put the device into pairing mode.

Troubleshooting

Tips to try if your device still won’t connect:

  • Ensure the device is updated to the latest version of its OS
  • Ensure AirPods are in their case and charged
  • Ensure that your Bluetooth is on in the device you are connecting to
  • Close the lid to the case, wait 15 seconds, then open the lid and try to pair it again
  • Bring the case with AirPods inside closer to the device you are connecting to

If all else fails and you still can’t connect, you can try resetting your AirPods.

How to Reset your AirPods

Here are the simple instructions to reset your AirPods if they aren’t connecting properly.

  • Put AirPods in case with the lid closed
  • Wait 30 seconds
  • Open the case and put AirPods in your ears
  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth on your device – if connected, you are done. If still not connected, go to the next step.
  • Put your AirPods into the case, keep the lid open
  • Press and Hold the button on the back of the case until LED blinks white
  • Place the charging case with AirPods inside close to the device and follow on-screen instructions.

Your headphones should now be connected to your device.
