Keep reading to find out different ways to find your lost AirPods case and even how to potentially prevent losing them!

Locating AirPods Case

Apple AirPods are wireless headphones that come with a charging case that can be lost easily.

If you lose your AirPods case, you can locate it whether the AirPods are in the case or not.

There are a few different ways to find your AirPods case, and they are:

  • Find My app which is included on most Apple devices.Manual Search of wherever you have been.

These options are the easiest ways to locate your AirPods case.

If they are in the case, it makes it much simpler because there is an app for that.

Find My App

The Find My App is an Apple app that is included as one of the base apps, like the weather, stocks, and app store apps.

This is one of the Apple pre-downloaded apps you will actually want to keep installed on your device.

If you happen to delete it, however, you can always go to the App store and download it again.

This app allows you to track any compatible device from your phone.

Some compatible devices are Apple Airtag, AirPods, Ipad, etc. This app also allows you to share your location with family and friends as well.

Once you realize you can not find your AirPods case, but at least one of them is in the case, simply open the Find My app and look the device up.

After you are in the app, you have two separate options:

  • Play a sound to help locate where the AirPods are, as long as they are close to you.Get directions to the locations of the device.

This app also allows you to put your lost devices in “Lost Mode.”

This mode will lock the device, and then when someone finds it and tries to connect, your information will come up so they can get it back to you!

Unfortunately, if your AirPods case is empty when you lost it, then there is only one option for you: a manual search.

Unfortunately, if you are trying to locate your AirPods case but have the earbuds in your ears, your only option to locate the case is a manual search.

A manual search would include you retracing your steps to try to find your case that way.

This way is probably the hardest, especially if you do not quite remember where you have been.

It might even be beneficial to get someone else to help with the search and bring fresh eyes in.

Sometimes when you’re looking for something for too long, you unintentionally keep looking over it.

Unable to Find AirPods Case

In the very unfortunate case that you cannot find the AirPods case, you still have an option!

You can go to the Apple store and tell them you lost your case, they are able to replace it.

This is, of course, for a fee. At least they will ensure your AirPods work with the new case properly.

Loss Protection

You can also do a few things to help protect your case from being lost.

The easiest is buying a case to hold your AirPods.

These AirPods holders usually come with a keychain so you can hang them from your keys to help you from losing them.

Another option to help keep track of them is to turn on alerts for when you leave a location but do not bring your AirPods with you.

When you leave the location without your device, the Find My app will send you a notification before you get too far away, and then you are able to turn around and go get your device.

Setting up these alerts is simple; start by opening the Find My app and go to your device’s screen.

Once you have your device up, turn on the function for “Notify when left behind.”

This will send you these notifications.

In Conclusion

While wireless headphones are a wonderful investment, losing parts of them can be a real Debbie downer.

But there are different ways to help with this!

Using the Find My app is a simple way to locate your lost AirPods case, but only if there is an earbud left in the case.

If the case is lost with no earbuds in the case, the only option to find it is by doing a manual search.

This is done by retracing your steps as much as you can once you realize the case is gone.
